Chapter 4: Of Sadness And Meetings

3 weeks had already passed since my birthday, I didn't talk to Ahaana during this while , everything had withered like a drizzle. I could not get over the fact that she had lost interest in me.Not that she was "EVER" interested in me.I don't know.
I repent every moment spent with her except for the very first one that happened back in Pre -Nursery, 16 years ago, I have been loving her since then ardently. I repent it because life gave me those moment to express my love for her vehemently to her ,but I had failed. I was shattered...!! Nothing could pick me up.
Thank god it was NOT A WEEKEND.. I would have shrunk into my shell otherwise.I was sucking onto Ankur's shoulders for support. He knew how gravely hurt I was. Not that Sana and Abha were unaware, but because I was meeting Ankur regularly, I reached him for little things too.
Sometimes I felt that I was too much dependent on others for support.
I reached office early that day. I kept my bag and checked in the intercom. I left to meet Ankur. I met Prashant and Rohit near the coffee machine on way. I hugged them and promised to meet them for breakfast in half an hour.
Ankur sat on his seat , carefully filing reports. He noticed me and stood up to hug me. I sat near his desk. Ankur shared with me the latest punjabi song he had discovered. One thing I am extremely fond about him is that he easily gets going with all the lyrics of raw punjabi songs. This one smelled urban thanks to the rapping and hip beats by Honey Singh.
I forgot things for a while and joyously started to imagine myself dancing on the song in a Punjabi Wedding.
This is the magic friends do to you, they make you forget the worst of woes you have without any special efforts. If you can't think of a person who has the similar ability to do this to you. You are in for an introspection.
Ankur and I left in a little while for breakfast, we were joined by the whole gang. Everybody ordered for themselves, Vineet made sure the paranthas had a generous amount of butter. He even asked for more. Everybody shared their views on how "harami" their seniors were. I was blessed , my manager was a "ISHHTUDD" , honestly. He even saved me from the clutches of a Senior Manager trying to fix me in a project happening at a distant place.
While I was gorging on maggi, my phone buzzed loud with a call from Sana. I picked the call. The brothers sitting beside me suddenly transformed into purring nymphomaniacs asking for more dose.
Sana broke into laughter on hearing the ooh's and aah's. I was embarrassed.
She first broke the news about how some girl from school was dating a fatso. They were active in PDA(Public Display of Affection) too.
I had almost become a gossip monger, thanks to Sana and Abha. There were times when Abha and Sana would discuss about how hot the white dress at Burberry was, how cute Imran Khan looked, how bad Sonam Kapoor looked in the egyptian style drape at an IIFA party and how Kareena wore her night gown for the red carpet and I would plainly stare at their faces.
We were mad.! If your closest friends are girls you would be laughing in affirmative.
Well Sana was in Gurgaon to stay at her cousin's place and she wanted to meet me. I readily agreed but on a condition that Ankur would accompany me. I couldn't have gone back home at 9 travelling in metro and autos. I was staying at Ankur's flat for the night . I convinced my parents for the same.
So at 7:30 . I and Ankur left from office. We took an auto and headed for a pub nearby.
Sana was already waiting.
She looked hot with her hip length hair open and the little grey dress hugging her . She hugged me the same way and shook hands with Ankur. I noticed the smirk on Ankur's face. Sana started her girlie talks and immediately I instructed her that Ankur was not interested in how Hema , Rekha , Jaya aur Sushma were doing in life.
So,the first question Sana asked Ankur was... Guess...!!
Are you single...??
And I was left dazed. Ankur was stupified too.
That is what all the "ONLY GIRLS COLLEGE" girls have in common. They donot know how to go about things in the right order. They pounce, leap and just jump on any person's stats they see.
They are so used to checking out the other girls, that they do it with everybody.
Ankur said yes.. thanks to his recent breakup.
They began joking and talking about LSR. Ankur had a friend there too, Manasi Dang. She was as brainee as he was and Ankur kept on telling me about her. I had checked her out on FB long ago.
She could be one reason of his recent break up. She was interesting and I wanted to equate things by meeting her , now that Ankur had met Sana . I'm bad at keeping any balances.
We ordered food. Ankur and I ate like hungry bears, while Sana managed with a diet coke. One thing best about Sana was that she would not eat when out. She was diet conscious. This was scary and good at the same time.
SCARY because : A cultured, well lit ,socially bright girl was watching you while your inside guts roared for another bite.
GOOD beacuse : You have to pay less.
I loved the second part and it rose above the first.
Mean me.!!
I shifted the topic to Ahaana soon and they soon started counselling me on why I had to tell Ahaana my fellings for her. I wasn't listening. I was busy finding excuses why I shouldn't do the same.
I WAS A FATTU.
We went on to the dance floor and I showed my extremely cool dancing skills to the world again. Two wannabe aunties came close to me and started dancing as if trying to impress me back . I got scared and rushed towards Sana for shelter.
Ankur and Sana ganged up and started laughing their hearts out.
We bid our bye's and Ankur and Sana exchanged numbers. We rushed back to Ankur's flat , had beer together and dozed off.
I BROKE MY PROMISE. Ha ha ha..!!
